Alice Aycock

Alice Aycock was born in 1946 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and now lives in New York, USA. She began her artistic career in the early 1970s in the Land Art movement. Aycock had her international breakthrough when she participated in the 6th edition of documenta in 1977. Inspired by engineering and scientific disciplines such as cybernetics, physics, phenomenology and computer programming, she uses high-tech materials to create her large-scale architectural sculptures.

Alice Aycock studied at Douglass College in New Jersey and received her Master of Arts degree from Hunter College in 1971, where she studied under Robert Morris. Her work has been shown in institutions worldwide, including solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, as well as extensive retrospectives in European museums.
